Sadberk Hanım Museum

Anatolian and Turkish-Islamic art works from 6,000 BC to today...

Sadberk Hanım Museum was founded with the purpose of exhibiting the private collection of Sadberk Koç, the wife of Vehbi Koç, and opened on 14 October 1980 at the Azaryan Mansion in Sarıyer-Büyükdere. The building next to the mansion was acquired in 1983, and later restored and annexed to the Museum as the “Sevgi Gönül Wing”. Today the Museum’s inventory includes over 19,000 pieces. Archaeological relics belonging to Anatolian civilizations from the 6th millennium BC to the end of the Byzantine period are housed in the Sevgi Gönül Wing while Islamic artifacts with an emphasis on the Ottoman period, European, Far Eastern and Near Eastern artifacts made for the Ottomans, woven textiles from the Ottoman era, garments and embroideries are exhibited in the Azaryan Building. The vast collections of the Museum are introduced to the public with periodic exhibitions and exhibition catalogs. Educational activities aimed at children are also an important part of the Sadberk Hanım Museum’s endeavors.
