Prof. Yılmaz Büyükerşen Wins the 17th Vehbi Koç Award
The winner of the 17th Vehbi Koç Award, given each year by the Vehbi Koç Foundation in the fields of culture, education and healthcare respectively, was announced at a ceremony held with the participation of the Koç Family and guests. Prof. Yılmaz Büyükerşen was the winner of the award with his groundbreaking work in the field of education.
Prof. Yılmaz Büyükerşen contributed to the development of Anadolu University by carrying out the rectorate duty for two terms as well as establishing and implementing the Open Teaching System which aims the expansion of university education. Prof. Büyükerşen also played an active role in the establishment of the Türkiye Eğitim Gönüllüleri Vakfı (Foundation of Volunteers for Education). Prof. Büyükerşen presently works as the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality President, and has developed practices that transform the entire city into a living educational institution.
