Byzantine Identity and the Other in Geographical and Ethnic Imagination
The fourth International Sevgi Gönül Byzantine Studies Symposium was held on June 23-25 at Koç University Research Center for Anatolian Civilization (ANAMED). The symposium titled “Byzantine Identity and the Other in Geographical and Ethnic Imagination” aimed to explore the complex relationship between geography, ethnicity and other factors contributing to the formation of the image of the other, and to discover how Byzantines talked about themselves while talking about the others with the participation of 32 local and international scientists.
