Teycan Yıldırım

Vocational High School Student, Intern at the VKV

I was born in Istanbul in 1995. I’m a vocational high school student in Istanbul, also I have been interning at Vehbi Koç Foundation. Meanwhile I’m getting ready for the university entrance exams.

How were you first introduced to the Vehbi Koç Foundation?
I was in the 9th grade when I was first introduced to the Vehbi Koç Foundation (VKV). There were interviews with students at our school about the Koç Group’s “the Vocational Education: A Crucial Matter for the Nation Project”. I found out the one of my class mates was taking one. My friend explained to me the project’s content. So I consulted my family and decided to take part in the project if I was accepted. Finding out that I was accepted, the biggest surprise was that students who take part in the project were entitled internship at one of Koç Group’s companies. This was my introduction to the Vehbi Koç Foundation. Now I’m an intern at the VKV’s accounting department. I feel I’m in the right place, doing the right thing. With the support of my ‘coworkers’ I know I’m making progress to my future goals.

Can you tell us your future plans and goals?
Entering a renowned university, studying international trade, being successful in my career and engaging in activities that will make a difference in people’s lives, are what I expect from my future…

What is the role of the Vehbi Koç Foundation in your life?
Being introduced to The Vehbi Koç Foundation (The VKV) is one of the positive developments in my life. I think I couldn’t have been be able to learn the things I’ve been learning at The VKV, if I was interning at some another establishment. I hope I will never lose my contact with The VKV. I would like to express my gratitude to The VKV and the "Vocational Education" Project staff for giving me this opportunity.
